A new book already….
It’s amazing how God had a plan in the beginning. God foreknew everything and that He plan everything according to His own purpose. God is sovereign! Through Jesus we have been adopted as sons according to the purpose of God’s will. Once we receive the gospel, we are sealed with Holy Spirit that guarantees our inheritance in heaven.
Moving on to chapter 2, Paul has pretty much written down the gospel. We were once enemies of God, children of wrath and sons of disobedience that once lived in the passions of the flesh. But God who was full of mercy and love, sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. In verse 5, when were dead in our trespasses, made us live together with Christ-by grace you have been saved.” This means whoever believes are no longer spiritually dead but alive in Christ! It is not by our doing that we are saved but it is the gift of God. We don’t deserve His grace but yet He freely gave it to us so that we ourselves do not boast.
As gentiles, we were once cut off from God but it is by the blood of Christ we are now brought near to God! There was once a dividing wall between God, the nation of Israel and gentiles, but thanks to Christ the walls have been broken down. In verse 18 it says “for through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father” so we are no longer strangers and aliens but members of the household of God. In the last part of 21-22, reading through the OT a while ago, I was struck by the purpose of the Tabernacles where God’s presence would be in it wherever the Isrealities camp out. It amazed me how it continues to connects to the NT is that WE are the structure being built together into a place for God by the Spirit and Christ is the cornerstone that hold us.
